A, what I would call ugly, man was in the room we walked into after I was rudely handled by some vampire guard chick at the door. He had long black hair tied in a ponytail at his neck and narrow black eyes which were sort of cool. But then he had his high cheekbones and thin red lips, rounded off by a square chin. His style wasn’t that great either. He’s more Amaya’s type of guy. We were supposed to show him our powers. Amaya was being show-offy, but there’s no way I’m showing them everything. My charm bracelet, barriers, future seeing and healing I kept to myself. To see if I could trust the vampires I used clairvoyance but that was a bust.

"Now, down to business.” Lucifer said. “First of all, welcome to the original world. By now you have seen the Great Tree, correct? Good. We have arranged for rooms for both of you. They are side by side, the door on the left from the main hall. What’s more important though, after seeing what you can do, I would like you both to be assassins for our army. Meaning that while everyone is occupying the soldiers, you would be assassinating the King." Hearing this I smiled. How would the human king react to me being an assassin? And on top of that, I was able to become an assassin using only half my powers.

"I see you approve. Welcome, then. You are our two assassins. I will allow you both to design practical clothes for your new jobs. Just two or three. They will be made for you in a few hours after you finish. Work on them when you want, we’re in no hurry to win this war.”

Kyle showed us to our rooms and handed me a bar of really strongly scented soap. “This will get rid of that stench.” I slammed the door and sat on my new bed. The room was covered in green and black silk. The windows were covered in large drapes and the furniture was also black. After having a bath, I pushed one of the drapes back and stepped out onto a small balcony to think.

The sky was a dark grey colour and the landscape was dark. The plants were droopy blacks, greys and other dark colours and I couldn’t see much wildlife. I sighed. Is this the right thing to be doing? Do I want to assassinate the man I called my dad for almost sixteen years? I closed my eyes and saw a vision. Well, it wasn’t really a vision because the edges were blurry and the colour was in sepia.

“My King,” A man bowed in front of a man resembling the King of the human world. “We have searched the hut like you told us and burned it down.”

                “And?” asked the king.

“The Princess and her maid were not there. We had some men trail them so we could kill them but they disappeared. They had a little boy with them and were later joined by a man who we believe is a vampire.”

“How dare you bring me such bad news! Find them again!” The King looked furious and stood up.

“However we did manage to kill the two magicians living there.” His head was still bowed.

The King took a step towards the lieutenant and reached his hand out. “Fine. You are forgiven. You are dismissed.” As the lieutenant stood up and turned away, the King unsheathed his sword. He raised it above his head and brought it down. A soft thunk was heard as a head of hair rolled across the floor, closely followed by the body it was previously attached to.

I pulled out of the vision with a gasp and quickly raced though my door. I sat on my bed and cried. After a minute I stood up and raced though Amaya’s door. She and Kyle were lying beside each other on her bed and were talking before I barged in.

“He killed them!” I managed to scream this between my sobs. Amaya stood up and took my hand.

“Whoa, slow down and back up.” She dragged me to her bed and sat me beside a bewildered Kyle. I told her of the past and what I saw without caring that Kyle would know of the power I kept from him and his King. She listened through the whole thing then when I was finished she waited a minute to make sure that I was done.  “Rini...” was all that she could say.

“Design your clothes quickly. I want to kill him as soon as possible.” I stood up and strode out of the room while Kyle just sat there with wide eyes. My tears had already stopped and stained my cheeks. I laid down and slept.

I woke to a knock on my door. I quickly brushed my hair then opened it. There was a vampire who looked about 19 standing outside my door. “Good morning beautiful.” He said. He had silver coloured eyes and matching hair which reached his waist. His skin was very pale, but buff. “Did it hurt?”

“What?” was all I could say.

“When you fell from the sky.” Eww, his lines are so cheesy.

“What do you want?” I said.

“The King requests an audience with you.” He smiled as he looked me up and down, taking all my curves. “and I can see why.” He finished. I looked down and realised that I was still wearing my nightgown. It was white and cut off in the middle of my thigh. The top part had lace going around it and was a v-neck spaghetti strap. I didn’t help that he could see my pink panties under it.

“Just one minute” I closed the door and changed very quickly. It still felt as though he was watching me. I reopened the door and saw him waiting with his back turned. He led me down the hall and showed me the room I was to go into. “I’ll be waiting here for you, and I don’t know what Miranda was saying. You don’t stink.” He took a deep breath around my neck. “You smell like sugar.”

Freaking out, I stepped into the room. The king was sitting on his throne.

“I heard you’ve kept a power from me. Is this true?” he stared me down.

“Yes. I didn’t tell you that I can have brief visions of the future and at that time I didn’t know that I could see the past too.”

“Ah.” He lowered his head. “Is there anything else you forgot to mention?”

I looked him in the eyes. “I will be the one to kill the King.”

He smiled, “I see. Then you are dismissed.” I left the room just to be greeted by Mr. Creepy again.

“Hey Angel. You ready to go back to your room?” His creepy smile returned to his face.

What a loser, I thought. “No, I’m going to train. I’ll need a room that has water, earth, wind and harmful wildlife in it.” He showed me to a room. It was like a jungle.

“You need anything just shout. Vampires can hear anything.” He winked and I walked into the jungle. Everything I asked for was there. I spent the next few days training as I was waiting for the clothes I designed and Amaya. We didn’t talk much. She was always with Kyle and I was training. I even trained the powers I hadn’t told the King about. Mr. Creepy, commonly known as Seth became less creepy. Now he just used cheesy pick-up lines a lot.

“Rini, your assassin clothes are ready. They are in your closet. You and Amaya can leave as soon as she is ready.”

“Thanks Seth.” I walked across the hall and into Amaya’s room. “Are you ready to leave yet?” I asked her.

“Not yet. My clothes are arriving around lunch. We’ll leave tomorrow morning, ok Rini?”

“Ya, I guess.” I turned to see Kyle coming out of her bathroom. “Bye Amaya.” I left. I don’t want to be caught in the middle of them. I returned to my room and began looking over my clothes. All of them looked to fit me perfectly and fit my designs well. For the first time in days, I started to relax. I pulled off my clothes and grabbed the pants of my first outfit. My first outfit was black leather. The pants were low rise while the boots were cut two inches above my ankle. The heel was three inches tall. The shirt was cut before my belly button and was like a tube top. However there were straps for it on the right side. The one strap was straight over my shoulder as the other came from the same place but cut across me diagonally to reach around my neck. The shirt zipped up the front. I pulled on the pants and did up my boots. I grabbed my shirt and slipped the straps over my neck then started to do up the zipper.

“Rini! The King...” I looked up. Seth was standing at the door which was wide open by now. His mouth was open since he was gaping at me. I followed his eyes to a little lower than my face. My shirt was only half done up and my breasts were hanging out.

“Seth!” I spun around and zipped up my shirt. By the time I turned back he had already closed the door and was behind it. I opened the door only after having checked that my shirt was done up. “What do you want?” I asked as I stuck my head out.

His face was a vivid red when he answered. “The King needs to see you immediately.”

“That’s it? Couldn’t you wait or at least knocked?”

“He said immediately.” Seth looked away. Amaya exited her room and waited.

“Why are you just standing there? Didn’t the King say immediately?” Seth led the way and stopped outside the usual room. The King was sitting on his throne once more. This time he looked relaxed.

“There has been a change of plans. You will not be going to the human world to assassinate the King. Instead you will be going in disguise, to get close to him and find out his ways. Then when the timing is right you will kill him in front of everyone. After seeing the death of their king by someone close to him, the human kingdom will start to fall making it so much easier for us to take over. The two of you will be in disguise as maids. Surely, you have mastered transfiguration by now.” His expression did not change as we looked back at him in surprise.

                Transfigur-what-now? I thought.

“No matter. A warlock will be travelling with you on your way there. He can teach you.”

Amaya spoke up. “Why can’t we kill the King now?”

Lucifer looked amused. “If any random person kills him then a new king will rise, but if someone the King trusts kills him the humans will not be able to trust anyone. They will think that a friend would betray them the same as the King was betrayed by a friend.” We just stared at Lucifer. “Anyway, you will be leaving tomorrow at seven am. The warlock will meet you at the gates.”

We were dismissed. Amaya followed me back to my room and sat on the bed while I lied down. “Sucks, doesn’t it?” she said as she tugged on a piece of her hair.

“Ya, I was looking forward to being an assassin, but now we have to go under disguise and pretend to like the man who’s trying to kill us.” It doesn’t seem too terrible as long as I don’t have to pretend too long. I doubt I could stand beside that man for too long without the urge to hurt him.

“I meant the being taught by a warlock part.” She turned her head in my direction.

“Wha- why?” I rolled to face her.

“Because,” she continued. “we’ll have to complete training before we can start on the king.”

“Ya, I guess.” There was silence for a long time so when I looked at Amaya, I wasn’t surprised to find her asleep. “Good night.” I whispered.

                                ~              ~              ~              ~              ~              ~              ~              ~              ~

We were waiting at the gate with our three hippogriffs that by the way still looked asleep. We were wide awake of course. We went to sleep really early and were ready by six am. The warlock was already five minutes late.

“I bet you that the warlock is some really old geezer. He’s probably very wise and wears funny clothes.”

“No way Amaya,” a buggy-eyed kid came and stood beside us. Boogers were dripping from his nose. “I think he will be some perverted fat man who’s missing most of his hair, after all he has magic to do everything for him.”

“Well, your right about one thing.” A deep, experienced voice emitted from the buggy kid’s mouth and he started to change. “I do wear some funny clothes.” The kid was now a whole head taller than us and had dark red hair and golden eyes. His hair stuck in all directions and was long enough to reach his square chin. His red robes had a golden lion on them. “The name’s Adelais and you are?”

“Hwmna namana na.” Was all I could saw well vaguely pointing in Amaya’s direction.

“Rini and Amaya, nice to meet you.” He looked towards the sky. “Isn’t transfiguration amazing?”
